Since 1894, the acclaimed Yale School of Music has nurtured the talents and careers of some of the most eminent composers, conductors, performers, and arts administrators of the past century. The School's many esteemed alumni include Pulitzer Prize-winning composers Aaron Jay Kernis, Lewis Spratlan, and Yehudi Wyner; opera luminary Matthew Polenzani; renowned organist Paul Jacobs; distinguished clarinetist Richard Stoltzman; and the president of the Juilliard School, Joseph Polisi.

With its faculty of international distinction, students from among the world's most gifted young artists, and a dazzling array of musical ensembles, the School of Music is assuring its role as one of an elite group of international professional schools and conservatories.

The School of Music currently presents more than 300 concerts each year, featuring students, faculty, and guest artists. Concert series range from performances by the Philharmonia Orchestra, Yale Opera, and Chamber Music Society at Yale, to the Duke Ellington Fellowship series, Horowitz Piano series, and New Music New Haven, among many others.

Most performances are open to the public free of charge.
